NGS Research Associate

About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Next-Generation Sequencing Research Associate to join our genomics research services team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality DNA and RNA sequencing libraries, operating and maintaining next-generation sequencing platforms, and ensuring the generation of high-quality sequencing data for a wide range of research projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in molecular biology, hands-on experience with Illumina sequencing workflows, and a commitment to accuracy, quality, and scientific excellence.

Key responsibilities of the role will include

  • Prepare DNA and RNA sequencing libraries using established protocols.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot Illumina sequencing platforms.
  • Perform nucleic acid quantification, quality control, and library validation.
  • Ensure accurate sample tracking and documentation throughout the sequencing workflow.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, inventory, and compliance with laboratory SOPs. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely project completion and data delivery.
  • Contribute to workflow optimization and implementation of new sequencing technologies and protocols.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in molecular biology, Genetics, Genomics or a related life sciences discipline.
  • 2–3 years of hands-on experience in next-generation sequencing (NGS) workflows
  • Demonstrated experience with nucleic acid extraction, quantification, quality control, and DNA/RNA library preparation for NGS.
  •  Experience operating and maintaining sequencing platforms is preferred.
  • Experience with one or more of the following is a plus:
    • Bulk RNA-seq
    • Whole-genome, whole-exome, or targeted sequencing
    • Long-read sequencing (e.g., PacBio)
    • Single-cell and spatial transcriptomics workflows
  • Strong laboratory documentation, organizational, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
